About Us

Home is Our Main Goal

Since our launch in September 2018, we have been working tirelessly to that end in four main communities in the capital city of Freetown. We started with Lumley and Tengbeh town and our services have been very well received to the extent that we expanded our efforts to two new communities: Murraytown and Kingtom.

Using a three-prong program framework that includes family development, education and training, we partner with community stakeholders to create a system for orphan care that serves the social and emotional development of children, while giving them the resources needed to ensure they become productive adults in the future.

It is important to note that there is no existing formal foster care system in Sierra Leone. In addition, Sierra Leone remains among the world’s poorest nations, ranking 180 out of 187 countries in the Human Development Index (HDI). According to the HDI, more than 60 percent of Sierra Leoneans live on less than $1.25 a day. We are driven to be among the pioneers who are advocating for such a system by highlighting the value of sustainable child development that can subsequently improve the socio-economic status of families, and eventually communities.

Our Mission

A HOME FOR EVERY CHILD

Here at SUDU, we are driven by a single goal; to provide every orphan/displaced child in Sierra Leone, a home. We aim to be a model in Sierra Leone for quality orphan care programs that addresses the most critical, developmental, and social emotional needs of children.
